 Post subject: New patch and shield defenses

Hi,

I spotted you made several changes on Chitin shield and Tier shield (I didnt test darkness shield) and I must say, that those changes were not in a good way. I will try to elaborate a bit.

You have slightly decrease overall defense (not sure about this but I think it used to be above 200) of Chitin shield, its mage resistances and spear defense by 10.
On Tier shield you have only decresed spear defense by 10.

Now I must say, that Chaos spear is now much stronger than Yellow sword, Chaos spear has attack power smaller about 10 but it has higher range, which should be accompanied by smaller damage, however with those changes on shields Chaos spear has higher damage than yellow sword, so no war should now used it against priests. Was this the target you wanted to achieve?

Other thing I noticed is that with that small decrese of defense on Chitin shield now makes it CS worse than T shield against warriors, which I think should not be the case since it has higher weapon defenses.

Can you please make a comment? I am sure you tested it and made some changes, however I think they were not that good as you could think.

The thought behind the lower spear defense is the "dual 1h weapons".

As you know, a Warrior with duals has got lots of AP but...
he will hit most targets much lower than someone with a 2h weapon. :o

The reason why this isnt working correct, is the high wep defense - which counts twice on duals.
This is especially noticable if they hit a Priest with a shield.

Since warriors usually have a 1h spear when using duals, we can adjust it a lil by bringing down spear def. The only problem is to balance it with the 2h Chaos Spear.

It will be a compromise...cant fully balance it.
Since an average Priest has got around 60 spear def (with CS he had almost 80)
To make 1h duals and 2h weapon hit correct the wep def should not be higher than 30...(similar to Daggers).
Ofc we cant achieve this!
but I try to balance things a bit (Daggers work almost correct now).

Already increased AP on the 1h weapons a lot - I actually dont want to increase that more. But maybe we can still give 1h chaos spear a lil bit more AP (that item seems useless atm).

I did some dmg tests with 2h chaos spear and TSwords etc.. and didnt have the feel, that the spear is to OP but maybe we can nerf it just a tiny bit (1 or 2 AP)


Beside those thoughts I saw a small problem, that Mage and BP with CS seemed a tad to tanky. CS IMO always has been an OP Item (on every server).

btw, the spear def nerf on TShield was already some months ago.

Appreciate your concerns and its good when we discuss those things.

I think cs should be better against warriors than t-shield. That's the whole point of it. If you have 2 priest and 6 warriors, then you better add some rogue to your party and watch the priest or mage change the cs quickly :P The reason of these items is to add more strategy and support mixed parties.

In this server there's barely any variety of items. Same items for every situation. Switching items in the middle of a fight is not always easy and will add to pk imo.

I see that point about variety of items.
I think we are much better at this than on old maxko... ;)

CS is still better vs warriors than Tshield.
But its an item that is easy to get and it should have its weaknesses.
Thats why I lowered the resist and AC a lil.
Makes it more vulnerable to Rogues and Mages.

If it's still better for that then it's good :) Haven't tested myself really.
And as an old maxko player I can say that almost everything item related is better today ;)
